About
Michael Langlois is, in no particular order: a nerd, a writer, a connoisseur of fine chocolate chip cookies, and a renowned rat masseur (there isn’t as much fame or money in this as you might expect).
Also, for the curious, his last name is pronounced lang-wah.

So, a published author now? Well done, sir! The only question is – which version of your book gets more money to you?
Hmm, they make the paper version from my pulverized bones, so I’m partial to the electron-based one.
Awesome to hear from you, btw!
I’ve been looking for an excuse to get a Kindle anyway, and $83 seems like a small price to pay for something you no doubt worked on for ages.
Hope all is well at your end. I’d love to catch up in person sometime, if schedules and geographic disparities allow.
Agreed, it would be pretty great to catch up in person. Apologies in advance for all the inappropriate touching, though. SORRY.
Inappropriate is in the eye of the beholder.
Well I was GOING to get that $79 Kindle, until I saw that the Kindle Touch is only $20 more. But of course, that doesn’t come out until late November – so now I have to wait. Sometimes I feel like I spend my whole life waiting for the next great thing. Hmmm, if only I had a book to read to kill the time until it comes out . . .
So are there any hardbound copies of your book floating around, or is that just not how it works?
In fact, there is!

Also, ahem, it might be mentioned on the front page of this very blog. I’m just sayin…
This might be a tad off topic, but I’m considering a hop over to the Big Island during my next Hawaii trip. I seem to recall you’ve made such a trip yourself; would you recommend or not? For a small bit of background, we will be doing North Shore of Oahu for about 7 days, but we have another 2-3 days to kill.
I would recommend it. The Big Island was our favorite, by far.
Hello! I’m also a writer and I was wondering if you could email me at jeremiahwalton@nostroviawriting.com I have a few questions about the business world for writing, SEO, backlinking, and such. I looked for a contact box on your site but couldn’t find one.

Cheers!
loved Walker – sent the kindle book link on to my family (we all read a ton)… Will there be a sequel? What’s next?
-mark
Thanks, Mark! Walker is the first book in a trilogy, so there will be two more. The next book out is the sequel to Bad Radio, and then after that the sequel to Walker.
I just finished Walker. I loved it! I am so excited to see that there are going to be two more books. I just literally put the book down and Googled to see if there was going to be a sequel .
That made my day 🙂
When will there be another book? I read both and found them incredibly imaginative. I WANT MORE!
SOON(TM)! Which, in this case, means this summer 🙂
I can’t wait for the sequel to Walker! Is there a release date yet? Or even a tentative one at least?
There is! The next book is called Fugitive, and is due out Q1 2013.
Hey, I just finished “Walker”, man! I couldn’t put it down! finished it in 4 hours. Just wanted to say that some of the negative comments I read about it really make me feel kinda stupid for not ignoring them months ago, I think it was a smashingly good read, I kept seeing the movie in my mind as I read it, I mean it, this would make a great movie! I plan on purchasing the rest of your books with the hope that they turn out to be as good as this one. Great Job dude!!
Alvin Lee
Made my day, Alvin, thanks! And I totally agree that it would make a great movie:P
I have just finished reading bad radio and liars harvest and have to say the best books I have read for a while I loved the characters I love reality of all of them in such a unreal situations.. I just wish I had dragged them out a bit longer as they were done in 2 days.. just wondering if there was a release date in mind for the next one or if there is a mailing list I can join so know when it comes out in the future… 🙂
Thanks so much for the kind words, Hayley! No release date yet for the next Emergent Earth book, but soon(TM) 🙂
I alternate between the Walker trilogy and EE, so the next Walker book, Fugitive is next. It’ll be out in the fall, so the next EE will be up next after that one. I try to get out two books per year, but this year I have a top sekret project that’s slowing me down a bit.
There totally IS a mailing list as well. The link is in the right sidebar and clicking it makes you 10% more awesome. (actual awesome percentage may vary).

I just wanted to say that walker was an amazing book! I love you’re writing style and hope to see many more books from you! Superb! -Christopher
Made my day 🙂 FYI, the next book after Walker is called Fugitive and should be out soon(TM). 🙂
I really like your books. Any update on the next one? I especially like the the emergent earth series. I think you are a superb writer who really knows what your fans like. I hope to see many more books from you. Any idea how long each series will be?
On a side note:
The only issues I have with the Emergent Earth series it is that the government has not gotten involved yet. Especially with all those murders of people in two separate towns. Also I am surprised the government has not noticed that Abe does not gotten any older especially when you consider that he has to show I,D. for the insurance for his house or any government or private services. Example of this would be his drivers license. It would be difficult for him not to rouse suspicion if he used I.D. the shows he would be in his senior years. Grey colored hair can hair can only hide so much.
I will recommend your books to my friends.
Thanks! The next book coming out is the sequel to Walker, called Fugitive, but the next Emergent Earth will come right after that.
Excellent point on government involvement and why he has been able to use his current documentation so far. Expect a lot about this in the next book 🙂
Thank you for responding back. This is how you build a loyal fan base. I forgot to mention that there are now many more witnesses on Abe’s abilities who he has rescued. You mentioned some are hostile or afraid of Abe. They could easily call the government on Abe because of their concerns. Also where are the news reporter’s asking questions on what happened? There were were to many murders and witnesses for the government to keep this hushed in a meaningful way. There would be at least rumours on what happened. There would be conspirincy theories, webpages etc on what really happened.
Everything you mentioned about people catching on and the authorities getting involved due to the events of the first two books is exactly right. Expect to see some of that come to a head shortly 🙂
So glad to hear that you are continuing both series. I stumbled onto Bad Radio by accident and was very pleasantly surprised. I read right through LH and Walker, and now Fugitive come out fast enough. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for some exciting stories!
Thanks, much appreciated! I’m alternating series, Fugitive should be out Soon(TM) 🙂
I just read Walker, and I really enjoyed it. You wrote it very well. I hope you are planning a sequel- it certainly deserves it.
Thanks, Bonnie! The next one is called Fugitive and is juuuuust about done 🙂
Excellent. I like writing my self, especially science fiction. So I was impressed how well you explained everything. Very vivid.
Does fugitive have a release date?
Just read walker and I liked it a lot. Will you write another one?
Thanks! I am, the next one is called Fugitive 🙂
My copy of Walker arrived at home a short time ago… I can’t wait to get off work to dive into it!
When does Fugitive come out? I can’t wait to read it!
Hi Mike,
Walker is one of the best books I’ve ever read! I enjoyed it so much I decided to ration how many chapters I read per session so that I could stay immersed in the story for more days. It was nicely paced and well imagined and depicted. I’m very happy there’s more Walker goodness to come. Based on other comments on this forum, I imagine I’ll also get into the EE series.
Australia rarely gets a mention in SciFi or fantasy so I was pleased to see that. I was even more so when I saw the reference to Australia’s capital city (and where I live) Canberra. You used one of our favorite words (mate) in its most common context (indicating friendship, respect or affection). Mate, when delivered with derision, sarcasm or scorn, is the antithesis of the previously mentioned positive meanings. However, most Aussies don’t say asshole. The closest would be arsehole but we’d be much more likely to say dickhead, fuckwit or c–t (depending on whom we’re taking to/about and what they’ve done to attract our ire). I’m happy to provide explanations and usage examples for each ‘term of endearment’ for your potential amusement.
Thankyou for an excellent book. It was truly a ripping yarn and I could have finished it in a day. I’m glad I took three.
Cheers
Rob
So I really wanna know the status of the next book in the Emergent Earth series! I absolutely loved the first two and really want more!
When should we expect the next books? YSN 🙂
Mr. Langlois,
Hi there! My name is Bonnie, and I read Walker about 3 years ago, and I really really liked it. Your book was original, and your characters were funny. The banter was witty. If I’m being completely honest there were some holes in your story line, but nothing major. Or it’s nothing a sequel couldn’t fix.
So I read. I read a lot. Like other than raising my two kids I read. More specifically I read science fiction. My dad raised me on Star Trek, Lost in Space, Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, and Firefly. So when I say I liked your book I mean it. Too be honest I’m a little sad there was never a sequel. I think it certainly deserves one. Mr. Langlois, I’m sure you’re a busy man, but could you please, please (with a cherry on top) finish Fugitive? I would be incredibly great full.
Live long and prosper,
Bonnie.
